Wow now that is better!

OK so what the heck happened... this week the snow is melting.  Last week it's like winter this week it's like spring.  Hmmm hope the cold air stays away for a while longer! :)

Crazy busy!  Worked all weekend teaching.  Just received my course evaluation summaries.... gotta love it when there is glowing comments! :)   This week is silly I am a volunteer at the boys school tomorrow, was at the girly's preschool today!  Work on Thursday then pass out on Friday?  I am beyond exhausted these days and just the 'regular' stuff is killing me!  Maybe it's the lack of sleep at night... still!

It was my first volunteer day at the girlies' preschool program.  It was amazing to see how well she is doing in a group situation!  I am so proud of her, especially since she actually listens and does what she is told.  (I was actually a little shocked at the kids that do not listen AT ALL.  That would drive me a bit crazy I give the teachers credit! )

I should be working on my other project but I am so tired I can barely think... so here I am!  I think I will be going to bed with the kids again tonight.  You would think 12 hours would be enough time in bed... guess more than 3 hours of actual sleep at a time would be helpful!

Mother Nature... hello??

Umm Mother Nature if you read blogs please turn up the freaking thermostat... -40c is NOT really enjoyable!

Can someone please tell me why the School Bus came today but has been cancelled for tomorrow and it is going to be a couple of degrees warmer than today?  I was actually surprised we had buses today??  Guess I have to drive the monkeys tomorrow!  I am so looking forward to going outside in the morning!  I can't wait! *insert sarcasm here*

Seriously what the heck is wrong with me.  I am exhausted, all the time.  Today I went back to have a bit of a nap after the boys went to school and I woke up at 1:54pm.  My poor daughter was sick so she was resting too.  Man did I feel like crap for sleeping most of the day.  I feel guilty about sending my sweet girl back to rest for a while and passing out for the entire morning and half of the day.  I think she got a bit of sleep though as her cold seems better.  I wish she would have come and bugged me so that I didn't sleep so long though.  Going to bed early tonight that's for sure!

Brrr...

Well apparently winter has finally arrived.  It was in the -20's (-4 F... I think I like Fahrenheit better!) this morning (not to bad as the wind hadn't started yet!)  It was incentive for the "not so happy about going to school child" to get on the bus!

Tomorrow I am thinking there will be no bus, they are calling for -33c (-27F) with the possibility of a -50 ish windchill (-58F) for the outlying areas.  Glad to be in the outlying areas right now! *insert sarcasm here!*  I don't think I will bother to drive the kids to school either.  My daughters preschool has already been cancelled so really do I want to go outside?

I was busy working on my project that I am way behind on... but now off to bed as I am way to tired to work!

Scrapin!

Spent the entire day Scrapin' with friends on Saturday!  So much fun, I even managed to get caught up on one of my albums, and I am inspired to finish off some bits and pieces I have lying around!  Now just to find some time!

Today I was excited to use my Teacher discount at Staples.  I only picked up a few things but it was nice to get a bit of a discount!  Oh and I bought a case of paper.  Given the kids are mini-paper-picture generators I give the box a week! HA HA! :)

Oh My...

What a week... by the way where did it go?

I had a little fella that just couldn't adjust to go back to school.  I know he is fine when I am not there but the separation anxiety was enough to make my heart sad.  I wasn't thrilled about them going back to school but I didn't share that with them.  I guess one of them figured it out.  On Wednesday the bus driver actually had to close the door on him as he was yelling Mom NO Mooooommm... I tell you it was hard to smile and say see you later.  (I turned around and the tears were a flowing.)  I have talked to the teacher and there doesn't seem to be anything going on.  I am pretty sure it's because of the change in routine after vacation was over.

It's so hard to see such a little person in turmoil and not have a clue how to teach him to deal with his anxiety.  :(

I also got a call to teach next weekend.  So much for taking a break in January!  Ha ha funny story they sent me my course evaluation.  I am reading it and the comments just didn't make any sense at all then I started to look a little more.  Well it turns out it was for a class a lot larger than the one I taught, by about 10 people and it was all most all women, mine was mostly men.  Guess they sent me the other instructors comments!  Ooops!

Anyway off I go to bed...

Scrappin' day tomorrow.

Where is my...???

Only a 4 year old could make her parents go looking for a teeny tiny sparkly pom pom so she could go to sleep...  My daughter loves pom poms, she has a pile of them that she has named.

Today ended much better than it started.  One of my twins started freaking when the bus arrived this morning.  He is having some kind of anxiety about going to school (and it's only the 2nd day back after break).  The bus driver tried to help me get him on the bus but there was just no way.  He was crying Mom Mom I want to stay home with you.  He was breaking my heart.  Not to mention that there was a bus load of kids watching him.  So I took him off the bus and said he still had to go to school, but I would drive him.  He came inside and calmed down a little while I got his sister ready to go.  She had preschool today so now I was really in a rush.

He was OK and I took him and go him settled, no issues.  Then as we were leaving he ran out with one of his shoes on and one off.  He grabbed me and starting crying again, Mom I don't want you to go.  It was really heart wrenching to see a 6 year old so stressed.  I tried to ask him what was wrong.  He said a few things that weren't really that bad then he said Mom I don't really know.  I had taken his stuffed Tow Truck and put it in his book bag for him so I hauled it out and he went off to class.  This is a child who is very smart and knows how to play Mom so sometimes it's hard to know if he's really upset or just trying to see what Mom will do.  Today I knew he was having issues though.  He has a really big heart and a very emotional side... it makes me worry about him.

He did come home in a good mood and back to his normal self, so I felt a lot better.  My stomach was doing flips until he got home.  Here's hoping tomorrow is easier on him...

p.s. can you believe it's 7:57 pm and I need to go to bed... sheesh so much for getting any work done tonight!

Fabric Softener...

So I am spending way to much time on Pinterest since I found out about it... (*waring* that link may be addictive, you may not want to check it out! :) *)

Well since I enjoy crafting and baking it has been adding some interesting projects to my list of things I don't have time to do!  But I did stumble across another recipe I had to try out, and since I was almost out of fabric softener what a better time to try out something new...

Homemade Fabric Softner
Yield: 1 gallon
Source: http://www.food.com
Ingredients:
6 cups    water
3 cups    white vinegar
2 cups    hair conditioner

Directions:
Mix water, vinegar, and hair conditioner in a 1 gallon container; stir. Do not shake it; it will cause foaming.
Use the same amount you normally use in a rinse cycle or spritz it on a wash cloth and throw in dryer.

My Notes
- So I put it in a bowl and mix it with a whisk (hubby's idea),  it mixes well and there aren't to many bubbles.  I poured a full batch into a large fabric softener bottle that I had and I mix it a little ever time I want to use it.  I kind of swish it around no shaking.
- It is really really dry here right now and I am not having any issues with static so that is working.
- I find that the conditioner gives it a bit of a nice smell but you can still smell the vinegar, I don't notice it on the dry clothes though.  I hang most of my laundry to dry.
- We have 'nasty', even after being treated, well water.  It has a lovely *NOT* smell to it, I find the mixture is able to over power that! YAY!
- I still haven't tried the spritz dryer thing yet

The low down
- seems to work well in the softening department
- if you are looking for the fabric softener smell this one may not be for you, even with a stronger smelling conditioner you don't get a lot of sent out of it.
- i have read that vinegar has antimicrobial properties so that has to be a good thing right?  I am thinking that this recipe may be a bit more environmentally friendly that the 'other' stuff' ???

Weekend?

Well I guess the weekend is pretty much over.  I worked the last 4 days so I feel like it should just be starting.  I was teaching a weekend course this past weekend.  I was was fun a small group, for a changed.  I was just sad as it was the last weekend off before the kids go back to school tomorrow.

As I only usually teach 2 or three courses a month I find it exhausting.  Talking for 14 hours of course time seems to really drain me.  I also get so dried out that it doesn't seem to matter how many liquids I drink I am still feel dried out.  Lately I have discovered that a warm tea in the morning at least helps me keep my voice!

For once I was actually happy the smart board died today!  I got to sit down for the rest of the class.  The room that I was in the board was on the other side, so if I wanted to actually type something in I would have to go back and forth.  Good exercise, better than sitting all day but I was a little tired today! (Late visitor last night!)

Now to wait for the course evaluations to see if they 'liked' me or not! :)  I always worry!

I had to have a wee bit of a nap when I got home, hubby had the kids outside for a while so it worked out good, although I felt guilty as I want to spend some more time with them today.  Instead we had a wonderful evening 'cleaning' up the Christmas tree and such.  They still love to be little helpers so they actually had fun putting away decorations! :)

Next up is the Fabric Softener recipe... Tomorrow's job possibly!  Off to bed I go!

Just call me cheap!

So I have been trying out some interesting recipes that I have come across on the internet...

I will start sharing some of the ones that have worked out for me.

I came across this post for stain remover.  I decided to try it out today.  It does take some elbow grease but it worked well on some really worked in stains. (I received some hand me down play clothes and decided to try it out on that first).

It's an easy one:
1 part Dawn dish detergent
2 parts Hydrogen Peroxide
I just used a plastic scrubby to work it in.  Then washed after!

(apparently you can use some baking soda too... I will have to try that out as well

Next up the Fabric Softener Recipe I found!  Gotta Love the internet! :)

Ouch!

Well my work week started tonight with a lovely Migraine!  I am kind of sad the kids go back to school on Monday and I am working all weekend. :(   One of my jobs tonight and teaching tomorrow night all day Saturday and half day Sunday.  I hope my headache subsides tonight as I want to do something fun with the monkeys tomorrow.

Speaking of the crew, we took them out for breakfast this morning.  They were so quiet and behaved I wasn't sure what to do?  Quiet is not something that happens at our house until after bedtime! :)  My husband had a great evening with them watching their fav movie and eating popcorn.  So sad I missed it, repeat Saturday night maybe?  :)

I just love spending time with the kids.  I am so lucky that I am able to be with them so much.  (I may dislike the down-graded house, but thankful that it gives me the ability to spend more time with the kids.  They truly are amazing little creatures and I know all too soon my house will not be one big toy room! :) )

Speaking of Crazy

Well the holidays are over and I have to wait until Monday to send the boys back to school.  I think they are going a bit stir crazy or missing school crazy or something?  They are driving me nuts!  What is it with two kids, one always has to get the other one going.  Mr. Mouth, the oldest but about 1/1000 of a second (ya they had to push the other one back in as it was kind of a tie, but I guess the doc could only deal with one at a time?  Sheesh I have to deal with two everyday what was her problem?  HA HA!), never stops talking/causing trouble/making odd car noises.  I think some duct tape is in order (not really but a mom has to dream right?)

I am supposed to be 'working' right now.  I am so far behind I may actually pass myself?  I just don't have it in me again today.  I am supposed to meet with a new client tomorrow that I already told I don't have time to help out right now, but they really want my assistance.  I think I need some motivation these days.

On the tech side it has been a rather productive season at my house.  I am finally setup the way I wanted.  I am doing all my work from my MAC which is setup to remote desktop to my PC.  I have two monitors, theory is I can do two things at once. HA HA I can't even manage one these days!  It has been good so far as I haven't crashed anything yet.  Give me a few days though I am sure it will happen!  Since I don't have an office in this house I am working out of a corner in my living room.  My second monitor is 'perched' on a tv tray, with three kids I am living dangerously!

Now to try to convince my hubby to work on some shelves in the basement, he is on his second week off, time to put him to work.  Lego building does not classify as work honey! :)
